Capsule Toy M.S.G. Part 3 [Final]

Complimentary display items

Finally going to close the review on Magnetic Scout Gundam (M.S.G.) capsule toy set with the gathering of all the items and some conclusive remarks.

Johnny Ridden's Customized High Mobility Type Zaku II and Zaku II MS-06J shown in Part 1.

The same figures with different paint schemes.

Strike Freedom Gundam and the Phase Shift armor off version shown in Part 2.

Same figures painted differently as well.

Gathering of all 6 figures.

Zaku II MS-06J: Comparison with the Master Grader Ver. 2.0 Gunpla version.

Different design for the armors as well as the mechanical details at the shoulder joint section.

00 Raiser: Comparison with the High Grade 1/144 scale version.

These mini head bust display items compliments their larger Gunpla version very well I would say. They are almost like the 1/48 Head Display Base for HGUC Unicorn Gundam to some extend. The Head Display Base shows the closeup of the model kit's head while the full HGUC model kit is busy posing for some action. ^^ These M.S.G. figures are much smaller than that of course, but they do show some mechanical details that are lacking on the actual model kits, and as you can compare and contrast for Zaku II MS-06J, details that even the MG version lacks. You get to see different things of the same MS when they are displayed together I mean.

They are very nice display items on their own as well, and I do believe that's their main purpose instead of as complimentary items to Gunplas as mentioned above. They come fully painted, unlike the Head Display Base for HGUC Unicorn Gundam, so they are very nice for folks who aren't interested in assembling and painting Gunplas.

For such an old capsule toy set (September 2008), it's going to be really hard to get it now, but I'm sure they are still around somewhere in the market, ^^ just like how I never expected to be able to find it back in July last year. At this moment, it seems that the series has not been continued for quite some time already. M.S.G. Gundam Double O, which came out right after this set back in February 2009 was actually the last set from the series, until now. Bandai did have a similar capsule toy series called Zeonic Eyes, which are basically Zeon unit head display figures with light-up mono-eye camera gimmick. The first set was released in January 2009, while Vol. 2 was out in August 2009. I have Vol. 2, and for the difference of 100 Yen each as compared to M.S.G. (Zeonic Eyes figures are 300 Yen each), they are bigger and with more exterior details, but the chest bust and display pedestal are missing. I'll save up the rest of the details till another review on Zeonic Eyes. ^^
