Gashapon HGIF Gundam Character 3 Vol Gundam SEED Destiny Part 1

What kind of standing pose is that?

After concluded the reviews on 1/100 scales Gunplas of the four protagonist Gundams from "Gundam Double O" Season One with Gundam Virtue very recently, this new review series will be on something that is of another conclusion of some sort. ^^

A gashapon set this time - HGIF Gundam Character 3 Vol. Gundam SEED Destiny (HGIFガンダムキャラクターズ3 ガンダムSEED DESTINY編), which was released back in October 2005. I didn't get it back then of course, it was actually one of the many merchandises I brought back from my Singapore trip back in July 2010. ^^

I mentioned earlier on that this item set is a conclusion of some sort: it's actually the last of the five gashapon sets I got from that trip to be reviewed on this blog, after Gunsou Gattai Kerobot V, Capsule Toy M.S.G., Sunrise Imagination Figure Vol 3 and MS Gundam Seed Destiny Heroines 7. ^^

Now that I think of it, I can't really remember the exact reason for getting this gashapon set actually. ^^; I think it might be the excitement of seeing another gashapon set that featured Lunamaria, Cagalli and Lacus (the fake one ^^;) together after MS Gundam Seed Destiny Heroines 7 which prompted the purchase, or maybe it was just about getting that rare figurine of Cagalli in pilot suit. XD I can't really remember right now. ^^; I picked it up together with Sunrise Imagination Figure Vol 3 from a pile of gashapon sets in a store which seemed all too eager to get rid of them (from how I saw it). ^^; I actually managed to get them at a lowered price after a slight haggling, so that (victory) might be part of my enormous liking towards it right after the purchase. XD

Anyway, there are seven figurines in this gashapon set: Lunamaria, Cagalli, Yzak, Dearka, Meer, Shin and Mayu. All the figurines are in different standing poses, with customized clear supporting bases included for each of them, except for a lain Meer. All the figurines will be presented in different parts of this review. ^^

Before revealing all the individual figurines, a look at the whole gashapon set first:

All the items yet to be taken out of their individual plastic bags.

All seven figurines are shown on the paper band.

Some product caution information and a mini feedback questionnaire on the back of the paper band.

The first two figurines to be introduced in this posting are the cover figures shown on the paper band: good friends Yzak Joule and Dearka Elthman. ^^

[Yzak Joule]

A little bit of assembly is required, as the figurine is being separated into a few parts.

Two different designs for the legs' pins and slots disallow any mistake in attaching the parts. Very nice. ^^

Much like the leg's connectors, the support base has very specific spaces to match the legs to secure their position.

Details of the figurine.

The head can be turned.

Yzak is designed to be standing in a really awkward-looking position. ^^; The upper body is bent backward and tilted on the right side - no one would stands like that I think. ^^; The hand gesture is really strange-looking as well. The pose might looks cool in a single 2-D illustration, where the best display angle is defined by the artist, not looked for by the audience. The latter is something I was doing the entire time while taking all the pictures above. ^^; I almost thought that the upper body was deformed from the time it was in the plastic package. ^^;

While it's somewhat weird-looking as well, Dearka's pose is not as hard to interpret as compared to Yzak's shown earlier on. ^^; It's clear (to me) that he's looking back while walking away.

Much like another two figurines to be shown in another posting, you can have Yzak and Dearka standing close to each other to form a scene. ^^

The last look the two friends shared before heading towards their respective MSs maybe? ^^ It's all up to your interpretation then I suppose. ^^

Introduction of another two figurines from this gashapon set in the next posting. ^^
