MG Gelgoog Ver. 2.0 Part 2

Deliberate downgrade

Starting to work on MG Gelgoog Ver. 2.0 after the introduction yesterday. ^^

With the different between this mass production type and Char's customized version being cosmetic at best - just the color schemes of green versus red that is, ^^ how should the parts of the former be treated to reflect its "mass production type" identity then?

The answer is actually pretty simple: just "downgrade" some of the details. ^^

All the thruster nozzles would serve as a good example of how this kit is deliberately detailed in a simpler fashion as compared to its predecessor. ^^

All the thrusters are shown without any paint in the manual. ^^;
The intended color scheme for these parts is even simpler than my plan, which I consider to be a downgraded scheme as compared to the same parts I did on the Char's customized version. ^^;

All the nozzle's interior is painted entirely in red (only) using Mr. Color No. 158 Super Italian Red Gloss.
For the Char's customized version, the inner-most nozzles were painted gold.

Excessive paint on the edge of the nozzles is scratched away using a knife.
For the Char's customized version, I let the red paint overflowed onto the edge to emphasis the paint.

Those narrow valleys on the sole parts are panel lined very easily using Tamiya's Panel Line Accent Color (Black).

Panel lines are applied using normal panel liner inside the nozzles when the paints have dried to separate between the innermost and outer nozzle layers.

No shortcut for the repetitive panel line work of the nozzles' body. ^^;

Four sets of fixed hydraulic pipes on the inner frame parts of the feet are painted using Mr. Metal Color 219 Brass and Mr. Metallic Color Silver for the gold and silver segments respectively.

Panel lines are applied to the parts when the paint has dried.

Test fitting the parts to see how the painted hydraulic pipes would turn out when assembled. ^^

Panel lined the narrow valleys on the rear sole parts using Tamiya's Panel Line Accent Color (Black) as well.

The tiny pipes on the rear sole parts are painted gold and silver using normal pens.

Various movable and fixed hydraulic pipes for the knee, ankle and heel parts are painted using Gundam Marker Gold and Tamiya Paint Marker X-11 Chrome Silver for the gold and silver segments respectively.

Except for the thruster nozzles, the detailing work on the parts shown so far isn't exactly easy actually. There are a handful of hydraulic pipe parts that require delicate paint work. ^^; Still, aided by the sense of familiarity from the work on the previous MG Gelgoog Ver. 2.0 kit, there's almost no doubt in choosing the color, paint or detailing method I want for the parts, and that really helps to speed things up a great deal so far. ^^

More detailing work on some other parts coming up in the next posting. ^^
