HGUC Unicorn Gundam [Destroy Mode] Part 2

Returning the Unicorn look

Starting to work on HGUC Unicorn Gundam [Destroy Mode] after the introduction yesterday with the paint work on a few parts and panel lining for the rest.

The V-Fin is molded completed in yellow. While it's non-transformable (obviously), the back of the part should be painted white to reflect the V-Fin's look in Unicorn Mode.

The tiny "toothbrush" tips on both ends of the V-Fin are chipped away using nippers and pen knife.

(Left) The V-Fin is placed face-down on a layer of Tack-It adhesive to hold it in place before the paint work.
(Right) The rear face of the V-Fin is painted using Gundam Marker White. Two or three layers of white paint are applied to cover up the yellow base color.

When the paint on the rear face has dried, the V-Fin is held using a paper clip so that the side can be painted.
Like the rear face, a few layers of white paint are applied.

Spillover paint on top the V-Fin is hard to avoid.

The spillover paint is scratched away using a knife.

Like the two in the Unicorn Mode, the the thruster parts' interior is going to be painted gold. ^^

Painted the parts using Gaia Metallic Color No. 122 Star Bright Gold.

With excessive paint around the nozzles' edges scratched away using a knife.

A ring of panel line is added between the inner layers inside the thrusters

The thruster parts are stuck onto double-sided tapes placed on paper clips so that all the rings outside them can be panel lined.

The two sensors on the shoulders are molded completely in clear red (from Runner E), even though only the small round points in front of them should be in that color.
Foil stickers are included for the parts, but I suppose I'll paint them instead.

Painted about 95 percent of area on each part white using Gundam Marker. ^^

Based on the experience working on the Unicorn Mode, all the line details on the white parts in this kit will be panel lined using Tamiya's Panel Line Accent Color (Gray), while the parts molded in gray will be done using the same panel lining solution but in Black and normal panel liner. ^^ Having that experience is mighty useful as I don't have to consider my options in working on all the parts. Despite being different kits in different boxes, I see the two of them as pretty much the same model, so it's just a given that all the detailing methods given to the Unicorn Mode are copied onto the Destroy Mode. ^^

Gray panel lining for the leg and helmet parts.

Black panel lining for the leg and beam rifle parts.

The work is incomplete obviously as the spilled over panel liner paint on certain parts need to be cleaned up. This task will be done in the next posting, along with some other detailing work. ^^

Are the "sensors" the vulcans? I believe they are, if I recall correctly.

Ah, just looked it up: they are. They're "Beam Vuclans" and can only be deployed in Destroy Mode.

As an aside, I absolutely love your blog and look forward to the daily updates of whatever you're into each day.
