Revoltech VF-1S Strike Valkyrie Part 3

Thanks for the lack of transformation

Revoltech figures are meant more for action poses, at least that's what I always believe in. ^^ For an old release as Revoltech VF-1S Strike Valkyrie, it would be very interesting to see how the different joints were designed. ^^

Tilting the head from side to side, upward and downward can be done very easily.

The Revoltech joint used as the neck is pinned to the rear collar, so the head can actually swing downward on its sides.

Like this. ^^

The beam cannons can swivel around on the sides of the head.

Revoltech joint for the shoulders.

Revoltech joint for the elbow as well.

Using the Revoltech joint, the forearm can swivel around to give it a different frontal display. However, with the joint blocked by the forearm's rear edge, the elbow doesn't bend as much as before.

The upper arm is fixed to the shoulder, so the Revoltech elbow joint's swivel is the only way to adjust any pose for the forearm. ^^;

The chest can be bent forward.

One Revoltech joint the same size as the shoulder joints is used for the upper body's articulation.

Waist swivel for the figure. ^^
This is an articulation point not possible with any transformable version of VF-1s I believe. ^^

Swivel joints for the hips as well.

With no skirt armor of any sort that would get in the way, the hips have a very wide range of movement. ^^

Not enough with the hip swivel joints, another set is incorporated for the thighs as well.

About 90 degrees for the knee bend.

Revoltech joint for the knee.

Thanks to the wide hip swivel shown earlier on, kneeling is mighty easy for this figure. ^^

Revoltech joint allows the ankle to bend upward and downward very easily.
Due to the armor around the joint, it's almost impossible to bend the ankle from side to side.

As shown in the previous postings, the wings can be lifted.

Besides a few special components like the beam cannons and wings which are unique to VF-1S Valkyrie, the figure's articulation design is quite standard as compared to other older Revoltech action figures, for example Protect Gear the Red Spectacles Edition and Ingram Unit 1. It's very effective in allowing the figure to be posed flexibly, but nothing too fancy nonetheless. However, when you think about the fact that the figure is based on a mecha which is supposed to be transformable, the articulation design does seem kind-of crazy. ^^ When transformation is taken out of the formula, all the craziness make sense, XD and the figure seems full of fun with all the articulation points shown above. ^^

The forward bend at the chest and waist swivel are the two "magical touches" on this figure in my opinion, ^^ as they would impossible to have on an actual transformable version of the figure. On top of that, I really like their design that hides the split between movable parts. The chest breaks right between the canopy and the upper body, so the joint is completely hidden in normal view, as with the waist swivel located at the fighter's nose. They are great design that utilizes the figure's own details to incorporate movable components. ^^

Some action poses of Revoltech VF-1S Valkyrie after the introduction on its articulation design:

More Battroid action from this figure coming up in the next posting. ^^
