BB Senshi Sangokuden Asurao Moukaku Gundam, Syukuyuu Gundam, Kyoshin Elephant Set Part 4

Red and silver concentration

Another round of painting and detailing on BB Senshi Sangokuden Asurao Moukaku Gundam, Syukuyuu Gundam and Kyoshin Elephant Set after the previous posting. ^^

I was talking about collecting all the parts with the same required color so that they can be painted in one go for efficiency. I was a bit skeptical of how "efficient" I can get with that intention in mind, but I didn't know that I was going to fail so soon. ^^; There are quite a few parts that require red paint which I forgot in the previous posting. ^^;

The "laces" on Syukuyuu Gundam's feet should be in red. ^^

The two Gundams' chins, and Syukuyuu Gundam's mouth area on the special Bishamon Mandala (毘沙門曼陀羅) mode face part needs to be painted red.

(Left) Panel lined the mouth area using Tamiya's Panel Line Accent Color (black) to highlight the border.
(Right) Painting the mouth area is going to be just as challenging as the upcoming work on those curvy details on Kongouyaka's parts. ^^;

Bottom section of Kongouyaka's ears would be much easier to paint. ^^

Painted all the parts using Gaia Color No. 003 Bright Red Gloss.

Last-minute addition to the work is a small segment on the front skirt armor part of Moukaku Gundam.
No worries, I must have forgotten a few other parts that would pop up when I'm feeling glad that I've finished all the red paint work some time later. ^^;

The thick color of the paint is one thing, the tool to paint them onto the parts is another point to get the most accurate result, especially on parts like Syukuyuu Gundam's mouth area in Bishamon Mandala (毘沙門曼陀羅) mode. The paint brush I used for the work is this one:

The tip size of 000 is the "sharpest" in my collection, and it's absolutely necessary for maneuvering around the fangs on the special face part to get the targeted area painted. A bit of spillover is unavoidable, but it's definitely more manageable for the cleanup later.

The brand name of the brush seems to be not very important, as I have another two sets of assorted paint brushes with different tip sizes, and 000 is one of them in either sets. They are widely available here and there is my point.

Apart from that one special face part, the 000 paint brush will see even more action in the next set of paint work. ^^;

Painting the curvy details on Kongouyaka's body part, with one side of the two halves done for comparison. ^^

With both sides done.

The edges of the parts are also painted.

The caterpillar track parts are also painted.

Excessive red paint on the silver background has to be dealt with later. ^^;

Paint work on the two arrow bar-like areas contains even more spilled over red paint as the targeted areas are a lot smaller as compared to the four shown above.

There are two sides with curvy details on each blade, a total of four on Rasatsuhishourin to be painted. ^^;

Dealing with the spilled-over paint is both easy and painful: just paint silver on top of all the spots to cover up the red paint. ^^;

It's easy since the silver paint I used (Gaia Metallic Color No. 9 Bright Silver) is able to cover up the red paint completely, as you can see from the images above. However, the painful part is, some silver paint now spilled over onto the red curvy details, which will need to be dealt with as well. ^^;

Just back and forth between red and silver paints until an "optimum" level of satisfaction for the overall outcome of the parts is achieved. XD

The cleanup isn't perfect as minor spilled over paint can still be found on certain spot, but they are not too obvious, and I can accept that as the final result of all these parts.

Excessive paint at the edge of the parts is scratched away using pen knife. All the parts are panel lined using a combination of normal panel liner and Tamiya's Panel Line Accent Color (Black).

Excessive silver paint in the corner of the body parts is scratched away using a sharpened toothpick. ^^

Like the V-fin and hair parts of the two Gundams shown in the previous posting, the blade portion of Rasatsuhishourin isn't panel lined to avoid distorting the silver paint's outcome. ^^

A great deal of focus and concentration was needed for delicate red and silver paint work shown above. ^^; I think I made a vow to kill anyone who called my cell phone and broke my concentration during that work, but luckily no one did. XD

With this challenge out of the way, the most difficult part of the overall work on this bundled kit seems to be over. However, before continuing with the rest of the kit, I think I'll move onto something else for a change. ^^

Hi Ngee Khiong,

May I know where you bought your size 000 brush? What's the name of the store? I can't seem to find it. Btw I'm from Selangor. Thanks
