BB Senshi Sangokuden Shin Koshin Gyan Part 4

Brown on gold

Lesser painting, more detailing on BB Senshi Sangokuden Shin Koshin Gyan after the previous posting. ^^

Excessive paint on the head, forearm, and leg parts is scratched away using a knife.

Excessive gold paint inside the legs near the edges is covered up using black normal marker.

While the border between the powder blue area and the golden stripe is panel lined normally, ...

... the line details on the shins, which are situated on the golden paint are done using a new panel liner. ^^
They are not black, but brown actually. ^^

Gundam Marker GM03 for Panel Lining Super Fine (Brown).
GM01 (Black) is shown, but it's not used on Koshin Gyan. The decision to not follow my normal practice of applying black panel lines to golden parts is more so for the shoulder armors (to be shown later), but the change of color must also apply to the rest of similar painted parts, for consistency in appearance obviously. ^^

Unfortunately for the backpack, the decision to use brown panel liner on golden parts was made after the stripes were panel lined in black. ^^;

Excessive paint on the skirt armor part is scratched away using a sharpened toothpick. There's one more color to be painted on the part before panel lining is applied to it.

Excessive paint on the foot parts is scratched away using a sharpened toothpick as well. The parts are also not panel lined (saved for the single vertical line near the front of the ankle), but for a different reason - the lack of clear molded lines separating the navy blue areas and golden stripes makes panel lining them extremely difficult. To avoid messy details in the end, the parts are left without panel lines. ^^;

Excessive gold paint around the heels is scratched away using a knife.

(Left) The characters forming Koshin Gyan's name on the soles are painted using Gundam Marker Gray.
(Right) After the Gundam Marker paint has dried, Tamiya's Panel Line Accent Color (Black) is reapplied to the sunken spots to cover up excessive gray paint. Normal panel liner is also used to highlight the characters' outline.

The bombs on Eiga Ban (鋭牙盤) are panel lined using Tamiya's Panel Line Accent Color (Black).

(Left) Excessive panel liner paint around each bomb is cleaned off using cotton swab soaked with enamel thinner.

Gundam Marker GM03 for Panel Lining Super Fine (Brown) is used extensively for the major golden armor parts. ^^

As mentioned earlier on, the decision of switching from black to brown panel liner for some of the parts was made with the shoulder armors in mind. Given the super elaborate details of the armors, heavy "dosage" of black panel liner paint on them would probably reduce the overall shininess of the gold paint, which is not desirable at all. A lighter, but bright color would be a good substitute for black. ^^

When used on the golden parts, the panel liner's brown paint reveals a weak but noticeable shade of red, which makes the lines themselves seem pretty interesting. ^^ That added benefit, coupled with the original objective of maintaining the shininess of the gold paint are good reasons for me to stick with using this new panel liner for detailing golden parts in the future. ^^
