MS Gundam Seed Heroines 5 Part 4

Meyrin Hawke

Temporarily moving away from Mechanic Collection Mazinger Z with God Scrander, and sliding in the continuation of the review on MS Gundam Seed Heroines 5 gashapon set. ^^

This is going to be the third figurine from the set, after Lunamaria Hawke, and Cagalli.

The package containing parts for Meyrin.

A little bit of assembly is required, as the figurine is being separated into a few parts.

Molded labels of "5L" and "5R" beneath the boots. "L" and "R" refer to the sides of the legs, "5" may be the designated number for Meyrin in this gashapon set, but that's just my speculation.

A small clip supported by the display stand that holds on to the legs connects the figurine to the display base.

More images of this gashapon figurine: ^^

Closeups on the details:

[Hair]

The head can be turned to the sides to adjust Meyrin's viewpoints for a little bit of change in angle of display.

A more mature-looking Meyrin this is, after she decides to dump her pigtailed look. XD A really mild, almost unnoticeable smile is what I would use to describe the expression worn by this version of Meyrin. ^^ It's almost the same kind of default expression as seen on Lunamaria in my opinion. That image may be a bit cloudy on Lunamaria, with her fringe blocking the full view of her expression. However, with Meyrin, her fringe is "perfectly" split to either side of her forehead, but I still don't quite get what that seemingly blank expression is supposed to mean. XD

Coupled with that weird-looking trying-to-touch-her-cheek-but-barely-reaching-it right hand (XD), this figurine of Meyrin seems like a fine candidate for the chapter of "incomprehensible designated poses" in this gashapon series. XD Beneath all the nice detailing, sculpt work (especially for the hair), and painting, the pose really stands out as a feature to be ridiculed about. XD For example:

Meyrin: Hey sis, I'm having this terrible toothache right now, do you know where the closest dentist may be?"

Lunamaria: Ah, let's see. How about the one on Figurines-Don't-Get-Toothache street, in the area of Are-You-Kidding-Me? That's pretty much the only one that I know of.

Perfect pairing! XD

Like her sister again, Meyrin comes with one extra face part for an alternate expression to be fixed on the figurine, and it's the same super-happy-for-some-reason expression as well.

Unlike its counterpart included for Lunamaria, the face part of Meyrin is fixed with the neck peg.

Comparison with the default head of the figurine.

With the head removed, the collars on Meyrin's uniform come into full view, and they seem to inherit the same level of quality in terms of their paint work as compared to the rest of the figurine, despite being hidden all the time by the hair. ^^

Part separation for the figurine's head.

Comparison between the two face parts.

Assembled the figurine's head with the alternate face.

A look at Meyrin with the alternate expression: ^^

Closeups on the expression:

Between the two, I certainly like this alternate expression better. ^^ It still doesn't explain what her weird designated pose means, but at least she looks cheerful and all happy, about something. ^^

It's very funny when I think about the alternate expression in the sense of that little conversation she had with Lunamaria earlier on. ^^

"Oh, I finally understand Lunamaria's sarcasm now!" XD

Another similarity linking Meyrin and Lunamaria, as well as many others from the MS Gundam SEED Heroines gashapon line, is the "cast-off" gimmick that allows the figurine to be displayed without the skirt. ^o^

With the one-piece long skirt detached from the figurine.

A very "fitting" skirt for the figurine. ^^

"I'm having a toothache, big sis laughed at me, and now I lost my skirt, but for some reason, I'm feeling super happy right now" XD

Gosh, why did I imagine that toothache story for this figurine just now? ^^; I think I'll be stuck at associating that random, totally personal joke with Meyrin forever. XD

Comparison with Flay Allster from Vol. 3 of the same gashapon series:

Comparing their expressions is obviously not proper, given that they are completely different characters, but interestingly, the shade of green used for their supposedly identical military uniforms is very different. ^^

Also, on a more personal note, it's also very interesting that the last time I did a review on the figurine of Meyrin, from another set (Vol. 4 to be exact) obviously, the same Flay was featured as well. ^^
